So I I've seen the new American stds and I'm a little disapointed in the color choices. I mean they are pretty, but limited.

There isn't a single blue or green. It kind of reminds me of the '70s. During the '70s Fender went a made the list of color choices pretty short.

Yeah, limited color choices, only three for the HSS, but all of my favorites are there in the SSS version. Of the colors offered, I like the Olympic White, RW fretboard. :D

The Jade Pearl Metallic SSS is kind of greenish, and different. Cool new color.

I think that the Fat '50s pups are a nice upgrade, and still fine guitars.

I really wish that they would be offering the Jade Pearl Metallic finish for the HSS Strat. That would be my Strat of choice and I always feel a little bummed that they only have three finish options for it.

I believe that the SSS version is routed for a hum-bucker in the bridge. You could get the SSS in Jade, and swap in a new pick guard with a hum-bucker.

There's still some hope. I've seen it listed on quite a few music sites.

If Fender didn't change the body routes from the American series, then yes, it would work. Good thinking :D

I don't think the changes on these are too big and spectacular. The fat 50s are a nice upgrade, though.

The HSS is available in Jade Pearl. Site hasn't been updated yet. All American Standards are HSH routed.

Same thing for the American deluxes.

Agreed. It's a weird conundrum. If you want a color other than red, white black or gray, you pretty much have to spends close to 4 grand for a custom shop strat. Or you can buy an American Standard, and then buy a replacement body from warmoth for a few hundred. I have seriously considered doing exactly this for a week or two now. Shame that it's the only way to get a strat in a non-boring color anymore.

I think you have something there. These colors are nice, but very "serious." It would be nice to see a few of the vintage colors come back (i.e. sonic blue, Fiesta Red and Lake Placid Blue).

Fender offered FSR American Standards in a limited variety of colours over the years, the most popular being Candy Apple, Chrome, Torino, Fiesta and Dakota Reds, Lake Placid, Midnight, Electron, Mercedes, Daphne and Sonic Blue, Firemist and Shoreline Gold.

Yeah, it wasn't too long ago that they did a FSR series that included features some vintage colors. I think it included Fiesta Red, Surf Green, and Daphne Blue with matching painted headstocks.. Its reasonable to assume there will be more FSRs featuring vintage colors on a fairly regular basis..

From what I see they did a 50th Anniversary American Standard in Vintage White with a matching headstock in 1996.
