"Snake Oil" is all it is. Let me ask you a question. If Fender could make the guitar sound better with different components do you think they would use them already?

Your better putting your money in a good setup, strings or amp than brass components.

Fender has made changes to parts to improve sound. Back in '00 they changed the bridge block and then changed it again with the new Am. Std. to improve sound quality.

Also back in the '70s the changed the bridge and saddles. They changed the bridge plate and block into a one piece unit. The bridge and the saddles made of molded pot metal. According to players this change hurt the sound of the guitar. I own a '79 Strat and I didn't notice any difference. I did change out the saddles with the vintage style because the original ones were pretty torn up.
One thing that I did do to improve sustain was add a block of wood and a few brass plates. To me the guitar does resonate better and longer. Who knows it could be all in my head.

I agree that a lot physical changes are bunk, but I do believe that everything changes the sound. The only question is can any of it really be noticed by the player or anyone else?

Totally agree that a good setup and amp make a world of difference. I don't know how many times some kid is looking at buying a crap guitar and doesn't know it. The salesman knows the kid doesn't know it so what he'll do is put the guitar through a really good amp and the guitar will sound great.

I have one of their blocks in one of my Strats and I like it. They drilled out the holes for the ball ends to a depth that I wanted (deeper than standard) and the way they design the hole that the bar screws into works really well, no more flop. Tone-wise, I don't know if I hear a huge difference but it does have a bit more sustain that the stock block that I replaced.
