I own a MIM fat strat and I'm thinking about raplacing the bridge saddles with something that would give me a bit more sustain and tone as well as minimize string breakage. Any suggestions?

You need to update the bridge block for more sustain. Good nonpot metal bridge will get you where you want. You can always go with graph tech for your non string breakage needs.

Yep, I changed the saddles on my old MiM to graph-tech's and they were a great mod!

Graphtech saddles will stop the string breakage but the tone won't be as
bright as steel (I use them on my Blackie & they are great). Callaham makes hardened steel strat saddles that won't get grooves & burrs (that is what breaks your strings). They also make a machined Trem block & that is what you need for that better sustain you are looking for.

For now, when you change strings, polish out any rough spots on the tops of the saddles with a very fine grit sandpaper & that should help with the broken strings.

I put some Brass ones off of an old Hardail Strat Bridge I got from Ebay. I changed out the vintage style ones because the 1st tring would roll up the saddle when I'd bend it. It turned out that they really imrpoved Sutain and Bell Tone.
