Hi all,

Thought id join the forum and post to show my new guitar. I've been looking for a really good strat for ages. Not quite as planned as I was originally after a relic but this guitar sold itself with its playability and sound.

Based on 1963 Strat. Alder body - she weights 7.26lbs. Quarter-sawn maple neck with mid-’60s oval “C” back shape. Round-lam rosewood fingerboard, 10.5inch radius and medium jumbo frets. Hand-wound pickups by Abigail Ybarra: Custom ’65s in the middle and neck, with a slightly hotter version at the bridge. Got the 63 short trem arm and metal plate cover for the bridge saddles in the case.

No it might be the camera, its just NOS piano black nitro cellulose paint. The specs are as per the fender custom shop website on the dealer select page.

Yes its a good combination of spec. The dealer sells a lot of strats with specs like they decided on these for their dealer select model.

The 10.5 " radius is very easy to play. The 63 aspects make it a looker and a classic and the 65 pickups are thought of as a good PUP's and a nice balance between early and late 60's sounds.

A week in and still v happy. I didnt buy it because it was a MB, tbh that almost put me off because of the cost, but i got a good price and so compared to the team built it was worth the extra. The ones I played although very good in their own right just didnt sound as good to my ears. Nothing to do with MB vs TB. Being dealer select they had the same hardware and PUPS and wood types, but it must be the particular pieces of woods in that guitar that made it special to me. It is fairly bright and hugely balanced tone. Made the other CS ones i tried sound like they had a tone knob on 8-9.

Yes it is. Would recommend getting one from there. They have so many CS strats you can get a good reference and the sound room is full of boutique amps inc Two Rocks so it was fun demoing them.

I'm also the proud owner of one of their dealer selects :D

I have a teambuilt NOS in 3 tone sunburst (lefty) Got it before christmas and its now my number 1!

As you say, terrific features they've spec'd out for them!

I believe guitarguitar in the UK are about to get their first run of dealer selects too. Quite curious about them, looks like they've gone for a '59 strat base.

jealous - too bloody right I am proper Pretty Green with envy.... Paul Weller not your typical guitar god but still a legit hero. I played my vinyl copy of Sound Effects to death ... it was nearly transparent by the time I stopped playing it daily and replaced it with a CD (which sounded so wrong because of the absence of pops and crackles and the odd scratch).

Bruce's bass was such a big part of the sound .... perhaps if Paul hadn't moved on to the Style Council perhaps The Jam would have been the 80's Who .... we could have had a rock opera called Jammy (about Ken Dodd's search for his ddidee men at Pontins) or Quadrasionic (about a punk ralphing from Brighton peir).

All joking about.... what do you want for it?

Minzapint not Paul Weller, Paul Waller. Waller is a luthier not a guitar hero. He's the newest Materbuilder i believe in the customshop. :D

I thought it said Paul Weller too. But come to think of it, he plays a Rickenbacher...
