Has anyone noticed that the Olympic white American strat is a different, whiter white than the Olympic white Jimmy Vaughn strat? The JV strat is definitely a darker white. I dunno?

Fender acutally has quite a few different white finishes. If you are close to a dealer they should have a catalog with all the colors in it.

It's a Japanese vintage guitar, so I think it's supposed to be more of what olympic white would look like when it's vintage.. I think.

The JV is MIM... but that's kinda' what I was thinking... like an Olympic white that was aged... I should think that Fender would give that a different name to lessen the confusion!

While I'm at it, I could swear that I saw a photo of a 3-color sunburst JV strat on line but only two-color is indicated in the online product specs?????

Right - that's what I mean. If you compare the American standard with the JV under "Products" on this very site, and compare the color of both guitars in Olympic white, you'll see that these are not the same color! Check it out!

I wouldn't attribute this anomaly to some photographic issue either.

I have an '88 Oly White Strat. It was as white as the pickguard when I bought it, now it's very aged. How old of a Jimmy Vaughan Strat were you looking at?

I just went looking at the pictures of th JV strat, The Jeff Beck Strat, and the Yngwie strat, and it seem that the JV is right between the two colors.

The Yngwie Strat though is not Olympic White, it's Vintage White which is a more creamy banana color.

I have also seen Olympic White vary quite a bit, new as well as aged

Whites have changed a lot over the years. Olympic White used to be what is known as Arctic White for a few years. Arctic White used to be todays Olympic White. The off-color white has changed shades. I think at some point Fender messed up what color was supposed to be what, and the correct color mix and just went with it.
