Hi! It would be a 1987-1988 most likely. Visit my website on page 2 for all the details. Www.xhefriguitars.com

Really great website. Strat Pluses were one the best guitars Frender ever made.

Xherfi,

Two questions:

1. Do you see the Fender American Deluxe Strat as an updated or descendent of the Strat Plus? Or is the new model different from the Strat Plus.

2. Could you give me a little information on a Strat Plus I used to own. It was an '87 Strat Plus w/ rosewood fret board that was stripped down to the wood and then stained a golden brown. My Strat Plus didn't have the Hipshot trem setter, had Fender locking keys, had the split top type of roller nut and Gold Lace Sensors; first version of pickup covers, in which the gold lettering wearing away. From what I can tell from the vibrato cavity, the original color was a metallic blue (I'm thinking gunmetal).

What can you tell me about the guitar from what I've given you so far?

About number1: The DX Series was the replacement for the Strat Plus series. it is similar as they both are Strats but the new DX series used the new Fender Noiseless pickups. I never cared for them much as they were to glassy sounding to me.

About number 2: Sounds like you just told me everything I would have told you! So I am not sure what I could tell you further! Except it sounded like a Strat Plus from 87 or early 88. :?

Thanks for the quick reply. I have to say, I'm not a big fan of the noiseless pickups either. I still play a Clapton Strat with Lace Sensors.

about 10 years ago I put some blue, silver and red Lace Sensors in a guitar I owned. I didn't like them. Also I've played the Strat Plus Ultra and I didn't like that guitar at all.

Thanks again,
Paris

I believe this guitar is one that was stolen around 1990-1992. The original receipt is long gone. Does anyone know how to find out through Fender if it is registered to me? I was bought in 1988 in Michigan at Gus Zoppi Music store. I attempted to obtain a copy of the receipt but was unable. The guitar for sale has a crack in the body near the neck, just like mine did. There were no photos of the headstock but i would have a burn mark on the back with a replacement sperzel on the low E. Thanks for an help!

theon - you could take a shot at contacting Fender and see what they say. I would reach out to their Consumer Relations department at consumerrelations@fender.com

I have no idea how far back their warranty registration goes or how much of that database is searchable. I do know that their searchable database of the guitar serial numbers with specs (and the original dealer it was shipped out to) only goes back to 1993 but I don't know about the warranty registrations. At any rate it's worth a shot.

Best of luck to you with this.
