Just got an email from my local guitar center, saying they just got the new 2012 American standards in stock, and these are the specs:


Custom Shop Fat 50's Pick-up's (Stratocaster)
Custom Shop Twisted Tele (Neck), Broadcaster (Bridge) Pick-up's
Elongated string slots for increased resonance and sustain.
Thinner undercoat finish for improved body resonance.


Anyone else hear this?

These guitars are FSR models made exclusively for Guitar Center. The regular production USA Standards came with Δ-Tone pickups.

Funny because they said...

The wait is over - today Fender announced the new Fender American Std. Series Stratocaster and Telecaster.

Also no fsr sticker that I have seen.

The products page needs to be updated to reflect the changes.

Same thing for the American Deluxes, IMO: N3s being replaced with the brand-new Super 55 Split-Coils.

Here's the newest US Standard Strat for southpaws: Lake Placid Blue with rosewood neck.

Jade pearl metallic is listed as one of the available colors. Anyone seen this color available before?

Wow, that looks nice! That replaces blizzard pearl in the color choices.

I've seen this rumor a couple of times here. But, is it just a rumor?

I've had no official confirmation from Fender about that info yet. Wait and see!

It figures the price went up 100 bucks. Oh well, still a good value if they upgraded the pickups.

Well, look at the GC home page. It's clear they are the new American standards, and they wouldn't call them that if they were FSR models. And delta tone is not a set of pickups, it is a combination of things, most notably the no load tone pot. But strange that guitar center doesn't list them as having fat 50's online. Maybe the store manager was wrong about that. Perhaps what the manager had was some FSR models, and the American Standards actually recieved no changes.
