Hi there Fender peeps

Im wondering if some of you can help me?

I have what i think is a Fender Stratocaster Deluxe, made in USA, 60th anniversary, 2006.
Excellent condition

The serial number begins with a DZ6, and it has a small Fender 60 badge on the back of the neck.

Any ideas?

That looks to be a American Deluxe Stratocaster.

All Fenders made in 2006 had the 60th anniversary badge on the back of the headstock.

DZ6 would signify a 2006 American Deluxe.

A deluxe strat will have 2 of the neck plate screws off-set, instead of in a perfect square. The neck plate will probably not be square either.

Be proud of it, some people proudly play Squier Strats (it´s a good thing).
You will get some money out of it yet, but it´s a guitar you could keep it for the rest of your life.
It doesn´t matter how much money you make, you didn´t paid it. You only win.

Cheers,
Robin

I can tell you this—my dad gave me a guitar when I was younger, a 1968 Strat. I sold it a few weeks later because I thought I needed the money. . My dad died in a tragic accident a few years later. Now I would do anything to have that guitar back because it is not only a classic but it would have deep sentimental value. My dad left me very few things, and that guitar would have been a big chuck of personal memories.

Hey Xhefri in a roundabout way thats similar to what happened to me. In 1982 my dad bought me a new strat.

He died of cancer in 1987, a couple of years later i sold it as i really needed some money. You can guess the rest, regretted it ever since, toyed with the idea of getting another as similar as possible but gave up and bought the 87 a few months back as a kind of memory of when he passed.

Like others have said, keep the guitar, it will always be a memory of your dad when hes gone.

i would keep it my friends dad passed away and he inherited a very nice martin and strat. His dad passed away about a year ago and wouldnt sell the guitar for anything he still has some of the strings that his dad put on over a year ago.

i hope nothing bad happens to your father but getting something passed down to you buy anyone in your family especially your father is pretty special

I'm playing my mother's acoustic guitar from 1979. Never sell such an instrument, you'll be very sorry one day.

Cheers

David

Not sure thats the case, the pickguard is a bit unusual being single ply albeit quite chunky, may have been a nod to the 60th anniversary angle?? I have a DZ6 strat with a standard 3 ply guard.

The headstock looks 100% genuine deluxe style to me. Chrome lettering, single glider string tree.

You should keep it, you got the top shelf one. You wont be able to match it in quality. If your after a different sound change a pickup. It didnt go up in value if thats what your thinking. It would be worth more in the future if you left it as is though.

Sorry to hear about the bruises. That is not cool. My dad gave me a few, but those I received, I had coming. I am not a big fan of the newer DX Strats mostly due to the too glassy sound of the noiseless pickups, but the sentimental value should have some value.
