Placed an ad selling my 1976 Precision Bass and although I'm looking for cash someone is offering a 1997 Deluxe Plus Strat Ash body and Lace Sensor Gold pups. Not familiar with this guitar. Guy tells me it is all original. Anyone familiar with this guitar?
Thank You!

Great guitars, and I personally love the sounds of the Lace pickups, but if your bass is in good shape it's likely worth more than the Strat. I have seen mint guitars for the $1000 range in this buyers market, but the older basses are somewhat higher. Have a look at some of the sites like Gruhn Guitars or Norman's Rare Guitars to see what your bass could be worth first. Not a straight-across deal.

I agree with Mr. cnsky54. A Precision Bass from 1976 can be somewhat collectable. What color is yours and what kind of condition? If it is Blonde, Sunburst or Black and decent shape it is worth around $1500. Minty ones could pull up to $2000. If the other colors such as Dakota Red, Fiesta Red, Candy Apple Red, Olympic White, Sonic Blue, Lake Placid Blue, or Gold Metallic, it is worth about 25% more. If Burgundy Mist, Surf Green, Fire Mist Silver, Sherwood Green, or Shell Pink finishes, up to 50% more. A 97 natural (Ash) Strat Plus DX, if really clean, is worth between $900 to $1100 to give you some ideas.

Thank you for your comments!

Mine is or was olympic white w rosewood neck. Color turned yellow/mustard over the years. Nut is metal. Has a tortoise pickguard and have been told that "must have been a replacement because that was not stock with that color". Also has a small drill on the pickguard between the output jack and the tone pot. Don't know if the previous owner had some kind of switch there.
As far as the condition goes it has quite a few time marks and small dents and scratches. It was like that when I purchased it. I've had it since 84-85 and took good care of it when I used it and it has been in it's case most of the time since like 1990. The action is good, stays in tune and sound is great. I'll try to post some pics.................

Tks Xhefri

I was lookin on your website and if I read correct this guitar I'm being offered is a standard, not a dx. Has Lace Sensor GOLD and the serial on headstock is N7307262. I understand the DX did NOT come with GOLD, and there should be a D prefix on the serial. I never thought of an even exchange. Seen some on Ebay that look pretty clean around $900.

Hey there Mr Longboarder, Do you really long-board? I mean like in the snow? Or you talking wheels? A Strat Plus with Gold Lace pickups is a Standard. Plus' never used the "D" in front of the serial number to indicate a Deluxe. The main difference between a DX and a Standard is the pickups. A DX will have Blue/Silver/Red most of the times, sometimes nicer see through burst finishes and sometimes a DX FLoyd Rose II bridge.

Man, I am feeling better about you already!  Up here (in cold country) we have long boarders on the ski slopes. It is snowboard that is longer than normal, with the back end cut off square. It is designed for carving especially on groomed snow slopes. The problem I have with these people (and I am sure they are nice folks!) is two fold. 1) Is the go super fast taking out other people from time to time, 2) is when they carve they leave a 2 inch wide by 3 inches deep groove. I use short stunt skis that are about 2.5 feet long and love to get on groomed snow and go fast spinning circles and going backward. There have been times where I would be spinning circles really fast, throwing snow up like a Tasmanian devil, and catch one of these grooves. They unceremoniously throw you up in the air, causing you to land about 15- 20 feet from your launching point; leaving a trail of gloves, hat, glasses, skis, and sometimes a bit of blood!  I think I would prefer long-boarding in the Ocean!!!!
