I have a 1999 MIM Strat. Frequently when I turn the volume knob or even switch through the five settings, I get a loud feedback sound and I have to tap the volume knob to get it to stop. What could be the problem? Also, there is no space between the body and the back of the bridge. I want to raise the strings a little and the two middle saddle bolts are at their end. Any help for any of this?

I'd take the pickguard off and check the solder joints. Spray some parts cleaner in the pots and switch.

As for the action, I'm not sure raising the bridge is the answer to a action problem. If you've got the saddles all the way up and it's still not good, I'd try a tech. Then again, have you adjusted the trem springs lately? Too much tension?

Hello DrRichie40,

On your bridge issue, your springs have too
much tension{or too many springs 3's enough for me}
loosen all strings,
loosen the claw away from the body, maybe 1/4"
Retune guitar, if your happy with new bridge position
and action, reintonate. If your not repeat.
I have my clearance a bit under 1/8".

Hope this helped.
