Hey,
I've got an American Strat in repair. I just got a new truss rod installed and only need the wooden 'plug' that goes in to the headstead to cover the rod.

Any suggestions on how to get a cheap one? if i can't find one, i'll have to pay $125 for a new custom one.

Thanks, all help is appreciated.

Try Stewart McDonald. Even if they don't have it, contact them and they may make on for ya, or at least send you to someone who does. Everytime I have called them for something they were always very helpful!

Just joined the board. Glad to be part of this community.

I've also been looking for a truss rod cavity plug. After searching high and low, I finally located a supplier. The part is special ordered, so there's no telling how long it will take to get it and the S&H is pretty high considering that the plug weighs about a half an ounce, but beggars can't be choosers. Anyhow, here's a link to the website.

This is a useful thread because it is news to me that Fender offer replacement trussrod plugs as a spare part. You learn something every day on the Fender Forum! :D

koenig541, welcome to the Forum. I too would be interested to hear about how you got the old plug out and changed the trussrod, and even more interested if you wanted to show us photos of the task.

Cheers - C
