ok so i found this squier for sale... and i thought by the dark blue colour that it was just another affinity strat but i noticed the pickguard has 11 holes and the headstock was a 50's style... i've got a serial number right here:

IC071009409

all i got from it is that it's a guitar that was made in indonesia (in the cort factory am i correct?) but what guitar is it? i've never seen one like this?

p.s. if it helps, here is a pic

I never thought I'd live to see the words, "urgent" and "Squier" in the same sentence.

YMMV.

Incidentally, your picture is not coming up.

I dont see anything unusual. I do like the color, but I doubt its anything rare. I use to jam with a dude that would play nothing but squire. He was rough on guitars liked doing mods, so he must have owned 12 of them with all sorts of crazy custom stuff.

this can't be an affinity... it has the small headstock and a 11-hole pickguard what is it? i mod them but not that much... i dunno i feel the low cash/decent quality kick into these guitars (higher end models... don't like bullets or affinities, but the SE pack guitar is a nice guitar for a modding platform... i've tried them... pretty good feel, with a fret change (or not) these could make nice guitars) i have a vintage modified strat... i've tried blacktop models and i only prefer the blacktop cause of the humbuckers but my strat could really be compared to these guitars

Quickly, try the Squier forum. Hurry!

http://www.fender.com/community/forums/viewforum.php?f=15&sid=6f6967997b67801879e38929eb1327dc

Looks like a standard Squier to me, what's so urgent?

I would hazard a guess that it's on the upper end of the quality having a 3 ply pick guard on it. most of the lower end have the single ply. If it's cheap enough pick it up. Just don't buy into some story about it being super rare or custom.

i don't think it's rare or custom... it's urgent because it's for sale and another guy is intressted... i'm in desperate need of a decent modding platform... i want a body and neck that have the exact same dimensions as a normal standard strat and this sounded like a good way to get one i was just curious cause if it were an affinity strat i wouldn't want one... can anyone else confirm that it's a squier standard? (i've neve seen a standard with a small headstock)

shimmilou- why don't you post my situation on the squier forum and see how long it takes?

guys i want a little more respect on this case... i never said the guitar was super rare or custom or whatever all i wanted to know is what guitar it was... i want a decent modding platform with all the right fender body and neck dimensions... is that so bad?

cullenszoo- i just said that the squier vm's are awesome guitars... it doesn't mean that this one is... but thats the idea of a modding platform

Dude, you want respect on this topic but you seem to have a lack of it for others. You asked what it was. With the pic you posted I gave you an opinion from what I could see. The ball on the head says something. That might give a better clue than asking for an ID based on 1 pic and playing guessing games from there. I personally like Squires and own one. If its not what you like don't get it. if you pick it up and you like the feel get it.

i wasn't referring to you when i said that... (notice you were the last person i mentioned so if there was anyone respecting my situation it was you but whatever)... i'll ask for more photos

p.s. i do like squiers... i just hate when people discriminate them... they are nice guitars and are fenders just at a low price i personally have gotten more disappointed playing some fenders than my squier

It's a squier strat. It's worth about 70-100 bucks. All day.

Because I really don't care. (JK)

But yeah, if you want Squier info, why not take advantage of the separate part of the forum that are specifically for the topic of Squiers. That's why we have separate sections for specific topics. I doubt if Squier fanatics are just waiting around here hoping that someone pops up with a Squier question. I would expect that they would check the Squier part of the forum though.

It shouldn't matter what kind of Squier it is, if you like it, and it feels good in your hands, buy it. If they are asking more than $100, skip it, it's not worth it. :)

Like I said, it looks like a Standard Squier to me (one of the better Squier models).

It's a great color. I dont think it's a standard - but if so it will say "standard series" on the headstock. The more recent Standards have big headstocks and 2 point trem bridges.

If you like it, and it's a good player, and you're going to mod it anyway, then stop faffing about and buy the damn thing! :?

shimmilou-a lot of people do this... mostly what they must be thinking is it's a strat like any other... and personally i think they're right... but you are too... personally i think that if squier guitars are in the same website as fenders guitars that there shouldn't be any real separation from the forum...

adey-i like the colour too... my issue is that bullets and affinities don't really feel good to me... i like that full strat body i don't like the thinner body... and i think the neck radius kinda sucks too... the SE models don't have these problems, neither do the standard series... but i asked fo more photos on the model before checking it out to know what i'm dealing with...

thanks and sorry to anyone i offended with the earlier post... i just really hate it when people say bad things on squiers without knowing that the only bad models (and they aren't even that terrible it's just on a matter of personal taste) are the bullets and the affinities... the majority of the line is pretty good

Oh yes, there are many fine Squier models, and I've owned a couple of really nice ones. My favorite was a '96 Mex Squier, it was really a great guitar, great feel and sound, and I would like to have another. Nothing wrong with Squiers, and I don't mean to seem as if I'm bashing them, I'm not.

The Mex model that I had was very nice, and had what I thought were unusual pups in which the pole pieces lined up with the narrow string spacing, although I didn't measure the size of the pups. It had a killer sound, much like a more expensive guitar. (note the small/normal-sized headstock)
