Hey guys, I just bought a 2009 American Standard Stratocaster. Supposedly untouched, no mods.
But I peeked up under the pickguard to check out the wiring (looks okay) and noticed that BOTH tone controls had little rectangular green capacitors soldered to them.
Most pix I've seen of loaded pickguards on recent models usually show red caps, and usually just on the upper tone control (closest to the volume pot).

I'll just take the whole thing off and post some pictures, but didn't know if anybody knew offhand if this was "correct" or not.

Thanks,
Michael

It could be that they used the Japanese type caps. For years they were green compared to the burnt brown and orange used by Fender USA. The main thing is to look at the k on it. Most Strats use 250k caps unless they are the really small treble bleed caps on the volume control which are like .01k.

I think we're confusing caps and pots here - caps (capacitors) are usually measured in farads. Resistance (pots are variable resistors) is measured in ohms (or Kilo-ohms, hence the k). It's true that treble bleed caps are in the neighborhood of 0.01 micro-farads (usu abbreviated uF).
