I have a deluxe power strat, which I really love because of the piezo bridge. The only thing I wish it had is the highway one nitro finish on the body.

So, I was thinking of buying a highway one body, and putting the neck and all of the electronics from my current deluxe power strat into that.

Is this a good idea? Will everything fit correctly (the neck, bridge, pickguard, etc)? I don't know how much fender changes things between different models, so if someone knows whether or not this will all work out I would really appreciate it.

I had similar desire. I own several Strats and love them all, but I really wanted to make a Strat made from the best qualities of each. So I built the following:

From the Clapron Strat: the neck and pick guard
From the Hwy 1: The Body (hand pollished black body to a soft vintage shine) and the bridge.
50th Anniversary American Series Strat: Electronics and the pickups (CS '54s).

I had not issues putting it all together into one guitar. It plays and sounds great.

good luck!

That sounds like a great guitar! My main concern is the bridge, since this one has a piezo bridge, and I can't seem to find enough info about sizing. I might have to just buy one and hope for the best, but I have a feeling things won't fit quite right since my strat is not a MIA guitar.

you might need to take it to a luthier.

If I was going to do that, I'd just buy an aftermarket body and have it finished instead. I can do some minor work to it, but if the holes don't line up, I'd rather just look elsewhere rather than having someone modify it.

Considering a nitro finish is going to take 2-3 months to do, I'll be out of a guitar for that time. Which I guess wouldn't be the end of the world...hmm......If it weren't rainy here for the next 5 months I might just do that...
