I'm trying to find out some information on what seems to be a pretty rare Squier that I have.

The Squier logo on the headstock is written in large graffiti style letters that are a similar font to the HM Strat series. The headstock is not the typical strat or squier shape. It is more of a pointy shape but doesn't have the drastic downward angle similar to a kramer style stock.

The body is a fairly typical strat shape with rear routed electronics. It has 1 humbucking pickup at the bridge and 2 single coils. There is a 5 way switch but only a single volume and single tone control.

The serial number is E311319.

Any help with this model would be very appreciated.

The serial number is on the neck so I doubt the neck has changed. I'll post a pic tonight.

I found out some more on it. Apparently, it's a Squier HM3 from the Heavy Metal series. But this is a rare model. It's got an HSS config and most of the HM3's had an HSH config.

Just getting it all cleaned up and doing a full setup on it to get it ready for Ebay. Wanted to get as much info as I could.

That is definately an HM series guitar, however I don't think it is an HM3.

Looks to say made in Korea not USA By the neck design it's an HM Squier.

Fender didn't make their guitars in Korean during the 80's. Made in Japan as very few Squires were made in the U.S. Those Squires were rare because of a Mexico plant fire.

You have a Squier Stratocaster HM III. I had one with the same set up, except mine was Midnight Wine (Dark Crimson). They are not that rare; unless, it is mint condition. I have seen them on e-bay for $150 to $175.

I loved my Squier HM III, however it met with an unfortunate accident and the neck broke. It's humbucker is a Power Sound humbucker. Mine was made in Korea. Mine rocked. It could keep up and sounded just as good as my friend's Fender Stratocaster (were are talking 80's here) and my other friend's Krammer. I did have to replace the volume pot in 1996 because it went out. I replaced the neck with a Warmoth Strat-style neck, but I really wanted a replacment neck with the HM Squier headstock on it. I ended up trading that guitar for a piece of crap ESP/LTD QM 100. I still regret that trade.

I hope you are planning on keeping yours. If I ever come across one and the price is right, I'd buy one again.

Nice guitar...brings back memories. Thanks for the post.

Squier HM III for sure. i had a friend that had one, I still want to get it from him.

They were a pretty good rock guitar. not really flexible, but if you played hard rock/heavy metal they got the job done. They were really the Fender response to 'Superstrats' made by other companies. They were made in the same factories as some of the other companies too. Ironically, though still pretty good, they were far from the best Superstrats.
Yours is not particularly rare. Unlike the other HM Strats the HMIII was common in a few different configurations. I have seen them like yours, HSS, but also HH, HSH. Wide variety of paint jobs too.

The one my buddy had(has? not sure if he still does, was 20 years ago,) sounds like a twin for rkreisher's. same paint and all.
