It would fit just fine, perfect topic for the lounge, if you ask me. That very nice looking guitar definitely seems to be "music related". :)

If I bought a guitar and found out it was faux, I would be very upset. I would demand my money back and if I didn't get it, I'd sue whoever I bought it from. I'd even press criminal charges for fraud. No matter if the person who sold it to me faked it himself of if somebody died who faked it and left it to him.

I agree that if you bought the guitar and didn't know it was a fake you deserve your money back.

Buyers need to beware of fakes passed off as the real thing.

For me it is pretty easy...all my guitars and amps are brand new from Fender...no worries! As for adding a Fender decal to a bunch of parts...I feel it is wrong and is setting the tone for possibly being deceptive down the line in the future.
ABS :D

Prime example of what we're talking about. My local Craigslist has a Fender Tele posted by a college kid wanting spring break money. He wants $150 for it. Even if it's a MIM it would be a good deal. Someone tried to post on CL it was a fake but got flagged. So....Standard procedure. Get good Pics of head including logo and serial. (the pic did show a Fender logo but it was poor quality.) Check the serial and decal with known real Fenders, Check with the Tele portion of this forum, and tell him I have cash in hand. All this before ever meeting with him and testing it out.

Is that what you tell people when you show them your fakes?

That's irony, eh?

 Not really. I just let them play them. Funny thing happened to me. When I bought my 50th Anniversary Am. Series Strat I was so excited to show it off. I mean it's a really beautiful and wondeful guitar, but everyone who came over always wanted to play my Fake Strat.

When I was in a band my lead guitar player was without guitar so told him he could use one of my mine. I figured that he would pick my Clapton Strat. No he preferred the Strat copy. Truth be told, it's a very SRV/Hendrix sounding guitar (Rosewood neck and Texas Spc. pickups). Another cool thing about it is I met Robert Cray and was nice enough to sign it. I can't imagine selling it.

I voted for flogging, because it was the closest. I'm not sure, if the option i could've suggested, is politically correct enough to publish in this forum. However if i could have it my way, there would be some extremely confused proctologists in neighbourhood bars starting their every evening beers with opening "You can never believe, what i had to start my day with..."

Stratocaster is a great guitar and i do understand strato types under different brands. However selling piece of junk with fake decals is not something i want to understand. There is a difference between fake and the real thing.

Still i'm more worried about factoring vintage guitars. Nowdays one needs to be a guru before he's able to find the difference between fake from the real thing. And the price in those things is a LOT. I've decided to be in safe side and buy mainly new ones. One recent short-story with that pesky g-brand product sealed this idea. New one from a known dealer and you'll be good in all situations.

I purchased a Squire Affinity because of the nice older Jaguar case that fit my Showmaster or Toronado. I wanted the case, the guitar was basically free for the price. The Squire had a expertly done 70's style Fender decal applied under the clear coat. It also had a 70's style "F" neck plate, a proper Fender mint green pick guard and trem plate (on a dark metallic blue body). It's really a beautiful looking guitar. The back of the large headstock still showed the Indonesian serial #. As is, I feel there's nothing I can do with it but keep it. I wouldn't give it away. I wouldn't feel right putting it out to the public. This is what a fake guitar is. The person I bought it from sold it as a fake, but a cheat, down the line, might try to make a couple bucks.

Sometimes the music stores don't know what they have. In fact some of the people ask, "Is this the real deal?" bought the guitar from a music store.

I recently bought a '79 Strat from a local store and they didn't know what they had. I was looking for Strats from the '70s to hear what they sound like. My luthier tells me that they sound different than other Strats.

So anyway I found this '79 and though it was beat up, it played and sounded amazing. I'm in love so I ask, "How much?" They wanted about $900 for it. It's a fair price so I have them take the guitar apart so I can authenticate it. It turned out that the pickups are Van Zandt True Vintage and the bridge tone pot has been changed out for a pot that creates a bypass from the neck to the bridge pickups. I get some really interesting non-Strat sounds, almost old Gibson sound.
They lowered the price to $730 and I got a great guitar. Here are a few pics.
