So I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to the finer points of pickup quality. I was silly and thought learning to play was more important. Anyway, I have a MIM Fat Strat and when I looked under the ole girls skirt I found the Double Humbucker just has a Fender logo stamped in it. It also has 3 adjustment screws. Anyone have any info on this pickup? How it stacks up with after market pups? Thanks

Greetings.

Questions like these concerning non-descript, Asian made pickups are asked constantly with essentially the same answer: Even Sherlock Holmes couldn't find the exact specs on them. People love them, hate them and anything and everything in the middle. I know this is of no help but this is why no one has answered your question until now.

Thanks, I wasn't too sure. Probably made somewhere overseas. I personally like the tone. It is funny how the cheaper pups are so inconsistent with quality. I have played through some really cheap guitars that had super hot pups and some expensive guitars that were kinda flat. Just thought I would ask since the double is less common than the singles on fenders.

You're welcome.

You've also brought up an excellent point about how so many of an 'everything generic' pickup can really smoke whereas how many of a 'pedigreed' one are indeed, a crashing bore. It is oftentimes the deficiencies in a pickup's construction that produces the gems.

Your best bet it to measure it yourself and compare with the posted specs of other aftermarket pups.
