Went guitar shopping yesterday. One local store was selling a used 2011 American Deluxe HSH for $1200.00. It's white with tortoise shell pick guard. It looks new, not a scratch or dent anywhere. I've only been playing guitar for 4 months, and don't have a full knowledge of what's good and what's not.
I didn't play this used guitar yet because I was blown away by a Blacktop HH and I played that for about 20 minutes.
Any ideas, folks?
I just thought $1200.00 might have been too low for a used guitar in mint-looking condition. The sales guy said nothing is wrong with the guitar.
I plan to return to the store today.

IMO, that's a bit high for the price of a used one. You can routinely get a new Dlx from GC for $1400 or even less on sale (depending on the model). You can likely get them to come down some more on the price of the used one, if you aren't acting too anxious, remembering that they work on commission.

Having said that, I would expect GC to stand behind the guitar, and if so it might be worth the price to you for the peace of mind as compared to getting used from someplace like eBay for less money.

And, the Blacktops are great, I bought a new one recently, sweet. :)

a used American Deluxe at $1200 is a bit steep but if the condition is as good as you describe it could still be worth it.

I'd say at least try to talk them down another hundred or so though. Personally I wouldn't pay more than $1000 for a used Am Dlx unless it really sounded great to my ears and the condition was pristine.
