Hello to all,

Just bought a new 08 Fender American Standard Strat with the new case. Was wondering what websites are best for beginners, and blues playing? Also was thinking of upgrading the bridge pickup to a Dimarzio tone zone, anyone with any info or suggestions? Thanks

I find that "Rock House Method" DVD's are the best for me.
They also have a free web-site for purchasers of the DVD's with free additional lessons and advice.
I combine this with lessons from a local guitar instructor once a week.
I've been playing since 1964 and am still learning. Picking up licks and tips from other players I meet and I try to practice an hour or so each day on whatever I'm in the mood for (copping licks off CD's, doing scales, etc.....).
Keep it fresh and interesting. You will reap the rewards. 8)

What I usually do is get recordings of a couple of songs that I like and play along with them. Then when there is something tricky I go to the net and find the tab. Ulitmateguitartab is a good site. this way I can practice my improve as well as see how other players pull off there licks. Youtube is also a great site. Sometimes it helps to watch someone elses fingers do the walking and get a better feel for how to play somethings.

Thanks for the input guys i appreciate it.....just wondering about the dimarzio pickup. I used to play bass so i understand the fundamentals quite well , its just getting used to playing thinner strings, plus adding 2 more:)

My personal choice would be to leave it stock until I figured out everything that can be done with it, then swap the pickup if I wasn't happy with the sound. The other thing to consider is that this is only your first strat, but probably not your last so there's always time for mods later!

I would suggest that you get the "Bluesbreakers with John Mayall and Eric Clapton" cd and learn every note.
