I realize that we've not yet invented a time machine, but it would seem to me with all the high tech that exists, there ought to be a way to artificially age a strat. I'm not talking about relics, artificially worn and distressed strats. I'm referring to a system that would literally accelerate the age of the guitar.

Any peops aware of any such technologies?

Hello Strataholic,

Salt spray test and ultraviolet immersion are
routinely used for many industrial and commercial
quality assurance programs.

Cheers.

Wwwwwwwwow. I was not expecting such a well-grounded answer to that one. :)

No, I foolishly expected this to take a turn into the realm of science fiction. Clearly... I should go back to college. :lol:

Cool idea;

A chamber combining ultraviolet light (to age and discolor the parts), sub-harmonic frequencies (to age and loosen the body wood molecules), cigarette smoke (again for further discoloration)...hmm.

BUT, if your simply after that "aged guitar sound", Frequency Resonance on the body is the best bet. Keep your guitar in a stand in front of your home stereo speaker.

There are companies out there already fooling with this theory.

I vaguely remember reading a article in Guitar Player Magazine several years ago, where several manufacturers were working on that kind of process (I think it was a manufacturers' 'roundtable'). This is the first time I can recall any thoughts of this kind of process being mentioned since then.
