Here are pics of the strat I bought. I was told it's a 1999 Fat Strat. From reading I gathered that the fat strat later in 1999 came standard with LSR as opposed to the nut on this one. The guy I bought it from said that it's all original and nothing has ever replaced or changed. My question: Does anyone know for sure that this is a "Fat Strat" and what the original specs were; pickups, nut, trem etc. ? ANY information will be helpful :)

I think it's a parts-o-caster.

American Strats with transitional logos were made between 1986 and 1994. The pickguard is an American Vintage '57 which was routed to accommodate a humbucker pickup in the bridge.

Hmmmm well I know the serial will come up as 1990 or 1999 . So could it actually be a 1990 in great shape?

Thanks for your reply

Yes, that guitar appears to be one of those 1990 American Standards that got the N9XXXXX serial numbers with a replacement pickguard/pickups (although the single coils could be originals). Does it have a TBX tone control? If it does the second tone knob will have a detent at about "5" (and if you take the pickguard off a TBX is essentially a double pot with one shaft).

There were no factory American Standards with bridge humbuckers at that point in time; the first Lone Star Strats (as they were called then) came out in late 1995/early 1996.

Thanks. I'll check that out when I receive the guitar. I bought it on Ebay and am anxiously waiting for it.
