Hi. I'm looking to buy a used 2011 AVRI 57 in Surf Green from a private seller.

This is the most expensive used guitar that I've purchased, so I want to be careful. I'm wondering what I should check.

How do the serial numbers run on these guitars? And, are they located in multiple places (headstock, body)?

It should come with a tweed case, extra switch kit, ashtray bridge cover, strap. Anything else? Unique paperwork (COA)?

There's the original bill of sale, and looks to be fairly new. What else I should look out for to verify it's authenticity?

Thanks.

Hi Ralph55,

The serial number should be stamped on the neck plate, something like "V0xxxxx", the x representing numbers. The RIs don't come with a certificate, but should have the accessory pack with manual, bridge cover, polish, cloth, strap, guitar cable and Allen wrenches. It should have a tweed G&G case with orange lining also.

To help get a good evaluation of a guitar, post pics of it and there are plenty of eyes here to check authenticity.

If there is serial and model number on the bill of sale, call the store for verification.

I can't help you in your quest to authenticate your potential purchase but I will say that this is my dream guitar so if you get her you better treat her nicely. :D

I bought a '57 AVRI last year and it didn't have any polish in the case. It did have all the other accessories though.
