Hi ! I recently bought (like 2 months ago) an hss american standard strat, I'm the type of guy that likes to start doing modifications to everything 8) haha and I was wondering, any suggestions about what I can do to this guitar ?

Also another question, Can anyone tell me what are the closest pickups regarding sound to the "Big Dipper" pickups that John Mayer uses in his black guitar ?

Greetings!

The sky's the limit in answer to your first question. In answer to your second one, Fender's Custom Shop 69s.

Thanks for answering my JM pickup question !!

On my first question, perhaps I should have been more specific, I mean like if I should change the pickups and if so, are there any suggestions ? Should I relic it ? I don't know, just trying to get some ideas and wanted to know if there is something that can get a better sound out of the guitar. Don't get me wrong, I love my sound but there's always room to get a better one, any help is appreciated. Also it would be good if you guys shared the mods you did to your guitars idk, thanks

You should check out premierguitar.com and enter "mod garage" in the search engine; you'll find a bunch of cool, easily-reversible-if-you-hate-them wiring mods you can try.
As for pickups, I've become a huge fan of the Seymour Duncan Antiquity Series since installing them in my white Strat.

For the love of God, don't relic it! Mod it till the cows come home, but allow it to age with time. If you want relic, buy one that's already beat up. I hate to see a pretty guitar beat down just to look old and used. Use it, let it get old. Everything else.....change out electronics, change bridges, tuners, pickguard, whatever you like. It's really just a matter of taste.

Buy a new fender pick-gaurd and the try some D.Allen pick ups. I have 3 diff pickgaurds loaded with diff pick ups. You can even get a HSS OR HH pick gaurd. The pick gaurd in my Strat now has EMG SA SSS loaded into it. The othe pick gaurd has Kinman Blues noiseless pick ups. I switch the pick gaurd when ever I feel like it.
