Fender Silver Sister and Gold Sister

Is there anyone out there that can tell me the story behind these two guitars.

It is really hard to find any information on the internet, and after my googleing I have found out couple of things, and please correct me if I am wrong.

There where only made 500 pieces of each
They where only made in 2005
They where all made in mexico

I just want to know more about these guitars.
Why where there only 500 made? (if that is true).
What is the story?

Sincerely
A curious owner of Silver Sister strat.

These guitars were named "Silver" and Gold" for their finishes. Both featured a humbucker in the lead position for fat bone-crunching dirt and sported an alder body and beveled vinyl pickguards (gold for the silver sister and chrome mirror for the gold).

Silver Sisters came with a rosewood fretboard and white pickup covers/parts while the Golds were maple-necked Strats with black covers and matching plastic parts.

I have a Silver Sister, but changed mine up a bit, adding a 3 ply black pick guard and 3 Vintage Noiseless pups in black and came up with this.....

I think my favorite part is the painted headstock. For some reason, thats always something that catches my eye with strats.
Very beautiful guitar btw 8)

Did your guitar have the Eric Clapton active EQ installed?
