Hi Russzfender,

I've only had mine for a litlle over a week, but I love it!
I've been setting it up, tweaking it a bit here and there, and looking into rewiring it to give the bridge pup a tone control (probably going to do the mod where the tone control can be shared by the bridge and middle pups, like some of the newer strats have).
Like I said in a different post, this is my first Fender in over 20 years,,,and I'm glad to be back!

MrMajstyk, thanks for the post I have mine for about a week also and I absolutely love it and it sounds great but there is one concern I have with mine is the pups dont have the word noiseless written on them?not sure if fender added noiseless pups in mine in 1998?What do You think?Does Yours have noiseless written on the pups?

Jimmikat,
That's exactly what my guitar looks like...that's the Fender website pic, isn't it?
(Although I did add the gold Dunlop strap-locks to mine.)

Yeah, rosewood with the 3 tone sunburst is beautiful. Wish I could make the headstock darker like the body. Looks good with the gold hardware.
(I was looking online, saw some gold pickup covers and gold knobs too...but I don't know, might be too much "bling").

Russzfender,
On the pickup covers, the word noisless is embossed and gold paint-filled...however, on my guitar (which I bought used) the center and neck pickups lost the paint, but if I look very closely I can make out the embossed "noiseless" on both of them. The bridge pickup looks like brand-new.
I think the paint came off the other two pickups due to a combination of the way the previous owner used his pick and cleaning the guitar.

I don't know if they had noiseless pups in 1998, or if they did, were they labeled? I don't know.
If yours is a 98, and you've only had it for a week or so, then it obviously had previous owner/s. After doing much reading, the noiseless pickups are something that guys either love or hate. Seems like guys who like to play clean rhythm love them (like ME!) and guys who like to shred think they are a little dull and swap them for hotter pups. Maybe a previuos owner swapped them out?
Take a very close look at the pickups first though...

My Deluxe Players Strat looked like the pic posted by jimikatt.
I wanted the 12" radius fretboard, but did not like the pick guard and pickups.
I installed a mint green pg and aged white knobs and covers.
Also strung for '010s and installed Custom Shop Fat '50s.
It works perfect for me. The only thing I missed from stock was the front and back pickup combo. That was a useful tone.

Hey- Real glad to see this topic come up, 'cause I could use some input from other DP Strat players. Got mine about a month ago, and I love it- if I could custom order a Strat in this price range, this would pretty much be it. Problem, though- guitar's currently in the shop- neck pup seems way too bright in tone, and when I roll it off to get the sound I want, the volume drops WAY off. Was gonna just live w/ it, but the guitar's brand new... Maybe a wiring glitch? Whaddaya guys (and gals?) think?

Don't know about your guitar, but my guitar likes lots of space between the pickups and the strings. I have my pups down low on the pickguard...maybe its part of the character of the vintage noiseless, maybe its just my guitar.
I'm having so much fun with my guitar, but will probably replace the tone and volume pots at some point. Any roll-off and I lose tone, so I tend to play the guitar wide open and adjust the volume via the amp. So...the pots will be swapped.
And, unlike a lot of guys, I LIKE the Vintage Noiseless...I can't stand hum or RF or line noise...and with the amp a little hotter, the pups sing!

As far as your neck pup...maybe its just a bad pup. My neck pup is warm, but still has definition...and its set low! I use it about 75% of the time.
Good luck!
