I know I should be able to find this info., but after three neck attempts...I gotta ask...
Is the SRV neck significantly chunkier than the modern C? I have an MIJ 62 RI with an awesome Fat-C neck and I've been unable to find it's MIA equivalent. I got a 62 RI MIA that ended up being just about as shallow as a modern-C. I'm returning it to the seller because the frets are waaay worn down, but fact remains...it was not beefy enough.
I can get another MIJ I suppose, but I started wondering about the SRV. Haven't tried it and don't know where I can so...

The SRV neck is way more chunkier than the modern C, but also very manageable. The 62 Vintage Hot Rod has a chunky C shaped beck. It's hard to describe the shape of the SRV neck because it's not a C and not a U shape. It's in between, if that makes any sense. Fender describes the neck as a large Oval shaped neck. Hope that helps but if you try one you'll know what I mean. I don't have large hands and I still find it very comfy to play. Hope that helps.

I also have slim hands (but long fingers).

I always considered the V-necks the most comfortable.

My US Buddy Guy Signature has a V-neck and it's very comfortable even though it's thicker than my C-shaped necks.

The SRV is considered to be even a little chunkier but I haven't played one yet.
I played a very chunky V-neck once in a store (baseball bat) and it still felt comfortable to me due to the V-shape. It's definitely worth a try!

Expect a short time of adaption to the different feel (took me maybe one day).

Well, my all-time favorite necks are the 2002 Double Fats which are a Fat-C with super-smooth rolled edges. Nicest I've ever felt. If I could find a crate of these...I'd get 'em all!
I also really like the MIJ 62 RI it's a little fatter but not as smoothly rolled.
I'm pretty cool with the Classic 50's V-neck even though I generally do prefer bigger frets.
Classic 70's is comfortable for me but when I play it it feels like it's a little narrower at the nut. That could be my perception due to the U-shape.
I put an Am Special maple neck on a HWY body...that's going next cuz that neck is shallow for me too. The PUP's are Beau Phillips handwound, and I'd love some info on them because I can find nothing about them. The guy who owned the guitar before me told me about them and they sound great.
This SRV neck is going on an SB Am Std that has Steven's Designs Texas 59 PUP's (killer!). I LOVE this guitar, but I could never warm to the shallow modern-C neck, so...I tried three different necks, all too flat and shallow. My fault...I didn't do the research properly. This time...well...hopefully a happy outcome.
Now...the hunt for a fat neck, with rolled edges and a maple board for the HWY body.
