I Don't see the point of buying 2 nearly identical MIM HSS Stratocasters in the space of a few months. But hey, its a free country.

Well, he likes them.

Another reason might be getting an almost identical backup guitar for gigs. I would do it that way but right now I'm not playing live.

Another good point. I'm planning on starting a band in the next few months, and I want to use an HSS Strat as my main guitar and it would be nice to have a backup. Even though I want to use my Marauder on some songs and a Tele on some (my Tele is approaching vintage age, and I'd like to buy a new one so I can "retire" mine from live shows.)

And as far as the second LPB HSS, I didn't pick it, it picked me. I played several Strats on the day I bought it and none of them "spoke to me." The blue HSS did speak to me, and I took it home. I initially wasn't going to get another HSS, but it played so well and fit my style and after playing a few notes on it, I knew I wanted it. It played better than the other Mexican Strats that I played that day, and without trying to start another flame war, dare I say that it played better than the American Strat that I played that day. And the LPB color helped sell it to me. Since then, I've bought a LPB Marauder so I have matching guitars on several levels: 2 LPB guitars and 2 HSS Standards.

I would never bring two identical guitars to a gig. Half the point of hauling around multiple instruments is changing to get different sounds. I never bring more than two. Every one you bring is one more you have to worry about breaking or somebody walking off with.
If its a collection, groovy. Like I said, its a free country, and you can spend your loot however you see fit. Sometimes after years of trading equipment and acquiring the latest and greatest, you can end up with multiple effects/guitars or amps that essentially serve the same function. But buying identical instruments within a few months? I just don't understand.

They're not identical. They each have a unique sound and feel. All guitars are different. Even two guitars from the same series built on the same day are different. And they are different colors.

Yes, I agree with bugo.
I also would rather drag along two guitars of the same type and model, than having to interrupt a gig due to a broken string.
I simply grab the backup and continue the show (I've been in a band before).

The main axe for a gig should ALWAYS have a backup but maybe that's just me.

Of course they're not 100% identical but usually close enough to continue the gig without having to tweak the amp's setting 'n' stuff.

I also drag along a backup amp when in a band.

I don't want to bother with changing strings or changing fuses during a running set of songs. That can be taken care of during the break.

Oh my gosh, your priorities are so messed up - water heater... tires... glasses... these things come before a new guitar?? Unbelievable!

Hey Jack! How's the Dillion? I've heard really good things about those guitars.

I actually just picked it up today again. It is really nice, in my opinion. I've had a bunch of semi hollow PRS copies....Schecter C-1 E/A, Silvertone 450. This Dillion is the first one that didn't go back on Craigslist after a couple months. I really like it. I recently (I do this periodically) pulled out a bunch of guitars to do some A to B comparisons and will shortly be selling off the guitars that lost the comparison, when they were similar guitars. All my Strats are going. Haven't compared the Tele yet, but I'm afraid it's going against my #1.....

Too many in past 6 months. I am not in the market at this time, so I should not have any NGD's in the near future. I am going to have a new mod picture once I am finished with my Blacktop.

I only had 2 NGD's in the last 7 or 8 months. A Les Paul in May 2011 and a American Deluxe strat in Sept 2011. The Les Paul also came with a Vox AC15VR, which sounds amazing.

I also had a NPD x2 when I got my strat - Visual Sound Double Trouble (twin tubescreamers in a dual pedal with bass boost, a noise reduction circuit and more output than the original.) and a Visual Sound H2O - analogue chorus and delay in a dual pedal.

I almost brought home a replica of Hendrix's flying V that I came across when I bought the pedals, but I was out of town and only allowed one carry-on bag (the strat mentioned earlier)
