I've got 14. I really didn't want to reply to this thread, but knowing I am not alone, makes it a little easier. After putting the guitar down for 20 years, and picking it back up with a vengeance in May after quitting smoking tobacco (probably had something to do with the GAS), it's gone something like this:
1998 Ibanez AX120 returned for 1994 SG (5/2011)

1994 SG and Marshall Haze 40 sold for US Tele and Fender HRDx3 (5/2011)

2011 US Tele returned for LP Studio faded and cash back (6/2011)

2011 LP Studio Faded Maple Top returned for LP Studio Deluxe 60's (7/2011)


Then I had cancer surgery to remove a tumor from my leg (WARNING LINK IS NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH). The cancer and the surgeries is what started all of this madness.

2011 LP Studio Deluxe 60's (8/2011) Still Have

2011 MIM Telecaster returned along with Fender HRDx(9/2011)

Then a PRS SE Santana returned for Mesa Boogie Amp (10/2011)


Mesa Boogie amp then sold for NEW Mesa Boogie 1/4 stack (11/2011)

Fender JA-90 Telecaster that got returned due to problems with the nut.


Then bought a MIM Strat that was returned, just fell out of love with (Thanksgiving) and bought a 2011 MIM Tele New (no photos of that) that I then took advantage of Guitar Center's holiday return policy to buy this:
08 American Deluxe Tele came in used at local GC. Mgr there knew I was looking for this, and called me (1/2012) Still Have

2011 US Hwy One Band-Aid Strat exchanged because it developed a neck twist after it was setup, for the 2011 Standard Ash Strat

2006 Gibson ES-335 Figured Vintage Sunburst (2/2012) Still Have

2011 Fender American Standard Ash Strat (2/2012) Still Have


Final collection (for now )I really don't want to buy anymore guitars. And when I play these, then look at them, I get the $@!& eating grin I was looking for from the beginning:


It hasn't cost me anything extra other than gas money (and time). The ones that were sold, were bought at very good prices, and I either made money, or broke even.

Really. it's been a great learning experience. I learned a lot about guitars (and buying them) and believe or not was still able to make good relationships with my local shops. I am really just an FNG. But, I am learning. Definitely doesn't cost as much as modifying cars.

Last 6 months? Ok.....sit down a spell, this will take a while. These are only the ones acquired in the last 6 months.

A new PRS SE Custom 24 - sunburst with birds.. Great guitar, superb trem.

A new Manuel Raimundo 138 Classical guitar - all solid cedar, wallnut and ebony. Exquisite and plays like butter..

I Don't see the point of buying 2 nearly identical MIM HSS Stratocasters in the space of a few months. But hey, its a free country.

Hey Jack! How's the Dillion? I've heard really good things about those guitars.

Because I like HSS Strats. And they're just different enough to be unique.

Well, he likes them.

Another reason might be getting an almost identical backup guitar for gigs. I would do it that way but right now I'm not playing live.

So there's different reasons to do that.

Believe it or not, in another forum which I surfed as a guest, I've seen a guy with 21 absolutely identical sunburst strats.

Of course every guitar is slightly different but with 21 strats of the same kind I've reached the point where I can't find any other explanation than senseless ADDICTION, ha ha ha ha ha.
