Can anyone provide info on differences between modern strat bridge and the classic looking bridge I have on my 2009 American Standard? I can see the difference, I prefer the modern visually, but believe Fender may have moved the Am Std back to the classic looking bridge I have on mine for tone reasons.

I'd like to know.

Thanks in advance,

The older American Series bridge has stainless steel block saddles and uses two pivot points; the current American bridge is essentially the same 2-point design except it has vintage-style bent-steel saddles and a copper-infused block rather than the epoxy filled types. This helps to increase both the resonance and sustain simply by there being more metal. Earlier versions of the bridge also had the 2-point synchronized tremolo (floating Fulcrum Type). It pivots on two large screws posts with 'V' slots that mate with the bridge plate. The new thing is the addition of the elongated bent steel saddles. These provide a greater amount of energy transferred to the pickup.

Must be not easy to hear . But the bridge could have a lower quality than those made by Leo Fender. Today the "cost cutting" is the law.

I honestly don't know one way or the other whether what I'm about to say is the case here. Having said that, oftentimes, even though and agreed, "cost cutting" is an 'in-stone' precept of the manufacturing world, materiel can be economically substituted with no perceptible impact on form, fit or functionality of the subject item. Again, I don't know if this is the case but I do not perceive it.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

"Your Mileage May Vary." In other words, one's personal experience(s) and subsequent point(s) of view may be different than mine.
