As you can tell I'm not too knowledgeable about this subject, My question is how can you tell a mim versus a mia neck or body without just depending on a decal on the neck (that anyone can put on ) or a body which I have no idea how to tell. Dumb question but you have to learn from someone and this looks like the place.

Thanks

The serial number should tell you where it`s made, they have different codes. It`s not that easy to get those Fender decals, the company guards their products so no one can pass off a phony for an original.

look at the headstock. the hole where the trusrod goes, on mim has a black plastic insert. on the mia has a wooden insert that is slightly darker.
that ofcourse besides the obvious made in mex, made in usa, and the serial #.
also in most usa models, there are 22 frets, except your jm, srv and such.
most if not all mim models have 21 frets. i may be wrong.

Thanks alot , I appreciate all of your answers! Now I know a little more about the strat ,which i have always loved and believed to be the best. I had an chance to play one of those $3000 PRS and IT was nice but I WOULD not trade it for my American Deluxe ASH Strat. Once again THANKS!
