I'll be picking up one of these made by Squier this weekend. It's been modded a lot, but I hear the necks and bodies of these were excellent. They took off the locking nut and the bridge and put in an american Fender bridge in it along with some better Alnico pickups. It's amazing how I find something by accident that I've been reading about for a week.

The Fender models....that I know of the contemporary model were E series for the majority and the serial numer, no matter what should be on the headstock, not on the plate. That seems a bit odd to me.

Yes, that irritates me as well.
On the other hand......everything is factory-like. No signs whatsoever that anything might have been modded or installed afterwards.

Everything looks original Fender!

That's why I asked if there was ever another guitar besides the contemporary model line, which was equipped like a contemporary????
