Hi ! I recently bought an American Standard Fender hss strat 50 anniversary with the s-1 switch and I want to know EVERYTHING there is to know about it, it came with the case, I think all the handtags, it didn't come with the original pickguard though. I've spent HOURS looking on the internet, trying to find some info but I just can't seem to find what I'm looking for....please a little help would be nice. :/

I forgot a few details, it has the s-1 switching system, the serial # is z4035713 and I noticed it says "Original Custom Body" I really don't know if that's relevant or what, and I just noticed that there is a LOT about fenders that I don't know haha 8) I need heeeeeelp with this !!! :|

American Series HSS Strats did come with the S1 switching from about August 2003 until they were replaced by the current American Standard HSS Strat in January 2008. The pickups are still the same - Tex-Mex single coils and the Diamondback humbucker in the bridge position, but the current ones do not have the S1 switch.

Other differences in your 2004 versus the current model would be the older bridge with cast saddles and a smaller inertia block and a slightly different neck shape. The original American Standards and the American Series used a 43mm/1.6875" nut width; the current models are minutely smaller at 42.8mm/1.685" wide.

Also that's not one of the 2004 special anniversary edition Strats; all American Series Strats made in 2004 had that 50th Anniversary neck plate. They did make a special 50th Anniversary American Series that was 2-tone sunburst, ash body, maple board only, and had '54 reissue pickups designed by the Custom Shop. There was also a 50th Anniversary American Deluxe that had gold hardware and the anniversary logo on the pickguard, a CS masterbuilt '54 reissue, and a couple of different MIM anniversary models.

Hope that helps.

Yeah man, thank you, you helped a lot ! It sucks that it isn't a special edition or anything special, I mean, don't get me wrong, I love my strat ! I just didn't know much about it or anything anniversary related haha. But umm hey thank you very much for the info, I feel like a father when his kid didn't win a championship basketball game that he says "hey, cheer up, you're still my champion" hahaha but oh well, once again, thank you for the info, God bless !

Aj try sending an e-mail to consumerrelations@fender.com with your serial number, they will send you a list of your specs, then you can compare it to the newer ones.
