Hi all, new to the forum....

Ive been playing a 50th An. Fender Deluxe Strat. for the last couple of years now, I purchased it new when they came out. Its been one of th ebst guitars i have ever owned or played. But over the last couple of weeks I have been getting a bit of a crackle in my pickup selector mainly when switching from the bridge pickup to the bridge middle pickup setting. I have S-1 switching, and it still makes the crackle sound with it in or out, so im guessing the problem isnt with it. Ive heard of people using some sort of electronic lubricant on the selectors before, but I'm wondering what kind to use. Im pretty sure alot of people have this problem eventually at some point because I've played other Strats in pawn shops and things that do it to. So could any one tell me what theyve done to fix this short of replacing the entire selector? :?:

Use Deoxit or Calilube (now called Faderlube) from Caig Labs... just google it and order direct. Some Radio Shacks carry it as well.

Just make sure you don't get any spray on the guitars finish. All other advice is good.

Eventually, with long term use, the contacts wear the contact plate and contact is lost. In the event that you start getting cutout and lubricant doesn't solve it, be prepared to replace the selector switch. Unfortunately, this is standard fair for any contact-blade type potentiometer (even the Tone and Volume controls).

 Thanks for all the replies guys, I'm gonna attempt this fix soon i think. Lately ive just been keeping the pickup in the same posistion all the time when I play. I generally always use the middle posistion with the S-1 in, but occasionally i like to use the bridge and neck pickups for different songs. I play at church, and it is kind of a big distraction when that switch pops aloud lol. Thank Again!
