Who has a Strat w/ the Roller Nut? Most likely a Jeff Beck model. Other than trying out a model with this set-up, I've not had any experience or know anybody with any experience with them. Seems like a mechanical contraption where you don't need one but, I'm open to hearing reviews. I'm very interested in picking up a black Stratocaster Pro and it sports one of these. Because of the way the slot is cut, it doesn't look like you can swap out a standard (bone) nut for the roller one. I'd be swapping out necks most likely to make the change. So, please tell me about your experience with these.

Thanks!

The LSR roller nut is even available on the aftermarket. I wish I had one. The idea is that it creates zero resistance at the nut for bending with the whammy.

I guess the bottom line is if you don't use the whammy much, the LSR might be a waste of time and money.

Not sure what effect this would have on the tone... perhaps similar to what would happen with the installation of a brass nut???

Definitely plan on "bending/twisting/stretching" the heck out of the thing but wonder if the metal on metal would eventually lead to pitting sticking that would be more difficult to clean-up than a bone nut (assuming standard/typical nuts are still made out of bone).

I have one on my strat pro and I use the trem all the time, it works killer and stays in tune great. Those roller nuts are pretty solid. :)

I have a 2000 Am Dlx Fat Strat. That nut works like a charm and that guitar stays in tune better than my PRS's in fact.

Has anyone here installed the LSR on their own strat?

All I know is you must be very careful. The nuts leading edge is not right at the nut edge. The string takes off from a fraction within the nut edge. I believe you compensate for this by having to shave the fingerboard back some or your scale will be longer than 25.5 inches.

Hi...kinda new here.Well a local luthier from where i am did advice me that if you change to LSR roller nut its irreversible.
So do becareful if you decide on doing it...other than that i believe its a great device even if you dont use the whammy a lot. :)

I replaced the Wilkenson style roller nut with the newer LSR roller nut on my 88' Stat Plus. The LSR works great and allows the use of heavier gauge strings. The older Wilkenson style only allowed 9-42. If you buy the LSR nut it comes with shims and an end cap piece that cleans up the installation. Not very hard to do if your inclined. Remember, when in doubt, take it to your authorized Fender Service center.

This is what I did on mine as well. Great point and excellent observation.

My AmD HSS came with the LSR nut.
Seems to work as designed :D
