I am gonna probably order a Dimarzio Fast track 2 for bridge and Pro track for neck. There is no middle pup as is a dummy pup.
I am done with the single coil hum of the SSL4's and figure best to go for mini humbuckers in this guitar. I love the guitar to death but find it hard to home record it through my Pod HD. I usually go to my Ibanez that has Dimarzio HB's, as the cycle hum or noise is bad. The strat has been checked out and no wiring issues etc.
Anyways,
Does anyone know the volume pot capacity is it 250 k or 500k

500K is best for the Fast Track 2 if you want any kind of high end from it. For the Pro Track, you're right at the borderline. Since your putting it in the neck, go with 500K as well.

Stock pups are:

Pickups: 1 Seymour Duncan® Quarter Pound FlatTM SSL-4 Single-Coil Strat® Pickup (Neck),

1 Non-Active “Dummy” Pickup (Middle),

1 Reverse Wound/Reverse Polarity Seymour Duncan® Quarter Pound FlatTM SSL-4 Single-Coil Strat® Pickup (Bridge)

Question:

If I swap bridge only for fast track 2:
http://www.dimarzio.com/pickups/strat/h ... st-track-2
Should not cause any issues right, seeing as bridge stck pup is a reverse wound?

You're welcome.

No issues. If upon wiring, you find that the DiMarzio is out of phase with the remaining Duncan, simply reverse the red and green wires of the DiMarzio.

Here's a thought: If you install a dummy coil in place of your dummy pickup, you could link it in series to your neck pickup and make it humbucking.

Hey man, thanks so much for the help here :D . One final question:

From Dimarzio website the Fast Track 2 is 321 mV output. I am trying to find the output of the neck SSL4 and hope that Fast track 2 may be a good balance for the neck pup. Also I assume my Blackmore Strat has a 250k volume pot?

You're quite welcome.

That, I couldn't tell you, you'd have to ask Duncan directly. See, I don't get hung up with all the numbers for the bottom line is, I go by the way my ear hears it. Having said this, the two pickups will balance well but you're probably going to perceive the Duncan as even noisier now due to the fact that the DiMarzio is going to be whisper quiet.

Yes, your Strat has a 250K pot. The bulk of Duncan Strat pickups were designed under the premise that most players would continue using them and only change the pickup(s).

I think best thing is I change both pups. I will mess with my Pod Hd500 input impedence settings a bit more but the 60 cycle hum I am about done with. Kills my recording sessions.

I know that particular model Duncan pickup is rather noisy. The way I figure it, there's no point in trying to circumvent the inevitable. So, correcting the cause makes the symptoms go away. If you don't want to link a dummy coil to the remaining Duncan then surely, it is time for that one to go too.

I had the same problem with my SRV Texas Specials, great sound, but very noisy.

I am getting a YJM Fury neck and bridge installed. I keep you guys posted. Should be much better as both hum cancelling.

I am excited i think they will work well in the Blackmore Strat!
