hi, i am new to this forum and was needing some help please. i recently bought a fender USA strat that i once owned back in 1995 or 96. i got it the first time from a music store used that is no longer in business. it is a blue / green (kinda aqua color) with a mother of pearl type sparkley pick guard. it came loaded with EMG active pickups (i was told at time it came like that from factory). i pulled the neck and found the serial no. Z st-332. the problem i found was that serial number don't match up with fender's serial number page. it shows Z's to be 2000 models with 5 letters after. i know this is not a 2000 model since i owned it the first time in the mid 90's. any help would be wonderful. thanks and God bless

Hi 662glenn,

That number is not the serial number. The serial number will be on the headstock front or back for most models, or on the neck plate for some models, or on the back of the neck near the body for other models. If it is a Fender USA Strat from around '95, the serial number will be on the headstock and start with an "N" followed by 5 or six numbers. You should have something like "N5xxxxxx" (numbers in place of Xs) for a US made Strat from around '95.

Posting pics would help tremendously in identifying the guitar. Pics must be uploaded to a publicly accessible site such as PhotoBucket. Once uploaded, each pic will have an "IMG" code that can be copied and pasted in your post here. Once the code is pasted in your post, click "Preview" or "Submit" for the pics to be visible.

Hi 662glenn, thanks for the advice i will try to get pics and open up a photobucket account so i can post them here. wanted to say i am not 100% this is a 90's model as i bought it used in mid 90's, but my wife had an interesting point. after looking at headstock front and back and the back neck plate the only thing i can find is what's on the neck where it goes onto the body, but what i thought was a Z my wife said could be an N depending on how you turn the guitar. the Z or N is not stamped the same way the ST-332 is stamped. i am very confussed. i will try to get pic's soon. a friend is loaning me a camera. thanks again

"st-332" sounds like a marking one would find on a Japanese made Fender.
