What is coffee powder?

The powdery remains of roasted and grinded coffee beans.
Usually used to brew a dark brown drinkable fluid called "coffee" by pouring hot boiling water (chemical name H2O, the very wet material which covers over 90% of our planet's surface) over the powder mentioned above. Some use filters to keep the powder out of the hot water to get the flavor only, some don't.

This dark brown liquid can be served in cups and other drinking vessels suitable for absorbtion of fluids by human beings
(lat.: h_omo sapiens) to provide nutrition or just the pleasure of tasting for the biological hull (=body) of said human beings.

Hope that helps?

Hah! Just a bit of cultural language barrier there. Here in the USA what you call "coffee powder" we typically call "coffee grounds" - I suppose because the coffee beans are ground up before using.

You are right - by whatever name they will absorb the smoke odor.

LOL, forgive me!
Yes, I assumed that it might be a language thingy but I just wanted to post a funny reply, no pun intended!

I never heard the term "coffee grounds". I also thought it was "grinded" not "ground".
Damn irregular verbs, ha ha ha.

I just bought a beautiful 2001 MIA standard Strat, the previous owner must have been a smoker, the guitar has a slight smoke smell. Any ideas how I can get rid of the smell?

I had the same experience with a pristine 2006 diamond aniversary MIM strat. I cleaned the entire guitar with Naptha to include removing the pickguard and tremolo cover to clean the cavities below them. Then I filled coffee filters with Arm and Hammer baking soda and duct taped them closed, put the guitar in it's case and placed the baking soda filled filters over the stinkiest spots. After a couple of weeks the smokey stench was gone and now it has the new guitar cased smell. I would also recommend spraying your pots out with "tuner cleaner" while you have the pickguard off.

Speedfish

p.s. I have a classical guitar that was kept in storage without a case and mice climbed through the sound hole and made it their home for awhile. They pissed and $@!& it up real foul. I sprayed inside the guitar with Fabreze and placed baking soda filled filters in it and repeated the process every week for about one month, but finally got rid of the stench.

Activated charcoal put in the case will also do the trick, you can find in most places that sell aquariums, such as pet stores. All you do is get a plastic container and punch holes in the lid-a small sour cream or butter container will do alright.

We used to place several charcoal briquettes in the empty refrigerator whenever we moved. It would seem to soak up the smells in the refrigerator. Doing the same with your case ought to cleanse it of unpleasent odors as well. Might also try sprinkling baking Soda in the case and let it sit a couple of hours, then vaccum the case out.
