I just bought a neck from ebay, saying it's a 85/86 neck ST-562
could someone knowing a bit more about the Japan models have a look at the pics,
tell me if you think it's original or not.. i have not received the neck yet,
it's in route to my house now. you can also click on the seller to get a list of everything he is selling, he also has the body for sale, and some of the parts if that will help.

It probably is real, but it's missing the serial #. There should be an E Series # under the Fender logo. There is also a string lock assembly that goes where the holes are drilled on the headstock. The E Series are represented as '84-'89, not '85 / '86.

Look's legit..the A serial # on the neck plate checks out as an 85-86

you are correct the serial # on these are on the neck plate.
and the E series is a different model, this is not an E series.
yes it came with a trem system but all hardware has been removed,
and i hated that style of trem system, if i wanted to use the trem,
i would either go stock with locking tuners, or Floyd Rose, as i'm not a big user of the bar since the early 90's...lol

One would think you would ask this question BEFORE you bought it not after.

well i'm sure i would have asked the same question.
as this was the 1st day the neck was posted for sale,
and i knew it was going to go fast at that price.
I do know quite a bit about guitars, and did a little research before i made the buy,
and it look like it was authentic, but wasn't 100% sure,
as it does have a 7 day money back offer with it, so i wasn't too worried about it.
I have seen some of the MIJ's go for over $1000 from this era, and have played a few,
which blew me away on quality and style of the necks,
some say that these strats were better than the American's of that time period.
Which picked up sales for Fender, and basically saved them from going under.
