Just got a Clapton Strat and it has allowed me to plug straight in to my Hot Rod Deville and get the tones I've alway wanted. From now on there will be no pedals or effects processors in between my guitar and my amp! This is the most versatile guitar I've ever played and matches my amp perfectly. It also means less gear to haul and setup for gigs. I've gotten used to using the volume and mid-boost knobs to boost for solos. I love this setup!

Good stuff! i wouldn't totally rule out any pedals though as they're useful for a lot of things. However i do agree there's something about just the guitar and amp that is hard to beat. Horses for courses though.

EC Models are great guitars and as you stated quite versital...mine is my Desert Island guitar and there is nothing like finding the right combo of just guitar and amp!

Ya, some picture please! And if we wait a while I am sure "Chromeface" will share a few pictures of Clapton playing his Strat somewhere in the world and show us which famous performers use a Hot Rod Deville!

I can do better than pix! Here's a video from my first band rehearsal with the new setup.
