sounds like a common complaint with GB to be honest.

try :

1. Garage Band > Preferences > Audio/Midi: Check "Minimum Delay When Playing Instruments Live"

1/8 sec (you really can tell down to that short a period of time?) in what? There is nothing in a guitar that will cause a delay.

Yup this is an issue with latency in the software. Change the setting mentioned above, and make sure there aren't any other programs running at the same time. Also helps sometimes to mute other tracks you don't absolutely need to hear when overdubbing. And turning the efx off while recording.

I've got the USA Buddy Guy Signature with 9 Volts block and 25db mid boost, just as in your EC Strat.

No battery = no sound at all!

Removing battery: gently use a screwdriver to slightly lift the battery.
Attach tape to the battery with the end sticking out of the cavity, so you won't need the screwdriver again next time!
;)

You may already know this but a second helping is worth the meal....do not leave your cable in the guitar when not in use. The jack turns on the preamp. Also, another sign that the battery needs replacement is that the audible output of the guitar will decrease as your turning the midboost pot to 10.

If you get the latency problem again, you'll need to either play faster or get one of those new time travel pedals.
Just kidding. You've run into the biggest problem with recording to a computer. If you haven't had it happen before, you've been lucky.
