Hey

I think I've found a great deal on an American Strat and I need help determining whether it was actually made in the US.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-American ... 2a19242410

Thanks!

Can you tell me anything about the pickups in it? I've tried to look for info on them but couldn't find much

Until now, I've never seen a designation by Fender or anyone else for that matter for, "N1" pickups, per se. Based on the pictures and the year of the guitar, I would presume them to be a trio of Vintage Noiseless which would (colloquially speaking) be, "N1s".

I would agree with Martian - looks like a legit circa 2001 American Series Strat that has been modded with Vintage Noiseless pickups and what looks like graphite bridge saddles of some kind.

You could look into the serial number printed on the back of the neck. I have a strat owners guide book with a number of serial numbers printed and explained. I don't have the book available right now, but there are a number of online resources that may help.

http://www.guitardaterproject.org/fender.aspx

According to that site it is a 2001/2002 american made guitar from the serial number. There was no match for that serial number for mexican or japanese made strats.

Along with this information, you may still be leery that it is entirely american made. The serial number will only indicate that the neck was american made. However, this should help authenticate it along with other signs that the guitar is authentic (ie. correct pickups, bridge assembly for time period, etc). Some internet searches could help unearth some more signs.

Hope that helps.
