My strat was made in 2001 in Corona, but I can't find my original paperwork to remember the model. It doesn't have a tremolo, and have 2 Seymour Duncan humbuckers in the neck and bridge positions. I can post some picks if that would help. Can anyone tell my the model?

Thanks!

Sounds like the American Double Fat Strat. I believe it was available with a hardtail bridge as well. http://support.fender.com/service_diagr ... A_SISD.pdf

Sounds like a Fender Big Apple Strat. Pictures would help. You could get a Big Apple Strat with a trem or hardtail bridge. They also came with Seymour Duncan pick ups. .http://support.fender.com/service_diagr ... B_SISD.pdf

No, RRR is correct if the Strat in question was made in 2001. The "Big Apple" became the "American Double Fat Strat" when the American Series replaced the American Standard in mid-2000. Essentially the same guitar - same Duncan pickups, bridge options, etc. - just the "American Double Fat Strat" has all the other hardware and woodwork updates (like staggered tuners, rolled fingerboard, vintage-style contours) that came with the American Series.

The big change for the 2-humbucker USA Strat was in mid-2003; the model name changed to "American Strat HH", the pickups changed from the Duncans to Fenders, and they added the S1 switching.

Here's a rough timeline:

1996 - mid-2000: Big Apple Strat
mid-2000 to mid-2003: American Double Fat Strat
mid-2003 to end 2006: American Strat HH

The guitar model ended in 2006 (or possibly early 2007); I know it was gone for about a year before Fender's next big update to the "new" American Standards in 2008.

You are correct sir. I just checked my Fender book and the Big Apple Stratocaster was made from 1997-2000. I only see a listing for a two point trem and there is also two string trees on the head stock.. The American Double Fat Stratocaster was made from 2000-2003 and came with a Trem bridge or hardtail. Only one string tree on the head stock. So the easiest way to tell if you have a Big Apple Strat or an American Double Fat Strat is to look at the headstock. Two string trees at head stock=Big Apple Strat. One string tree at the head stock= American Double Fat Strat. Also, the date on this Stratocaster says that it is an American Double Fat Stratocaster. Or, someone installed a HH pickgaurd in an American Stratocaster. I am going to install HH pickgaurd with EMG's in one of my Strats very soon. :)

Found it... :) I found the American Stratocaster HH made 2003-2006. I've never seen one and there is no picture of one in my book. I would have bought one if I saw it. In fact the only HH Strat I've ever seen in the store was a Big Apple Stratocaster. I wished Fender still made an American Stratocaster HH hard tail. 'll be looking out for an HH Strat at the next guitar show. I also need to get a newer edition of my Fender book. :D
