I have a 2007 Classic Players 60s Strat that has some mottling to the stain. The discoloring is on the front and the back of the instrument. This wasn't there when I purchased the guitar in '07 and it has primarily lived in its gig bag. There hasn't been sun exposure or other environmental issues to cause this.
Any way that this would be covered under Fender's warranty or will I be undertaking a refinishing project ??

Above is a link to my online album showing the photos. If it doesn't work, please let me know and I'll find another place to host the pics.

Thanks for any input you may have !

assuming that you dont feel any roughness in the finish my guess is that the wood wasnt prepped properly and the stain is somehow lifting from the wood, but the clear coat is holding it down. if it were an old Stratocaster with a nitrocellulose finish i'd shrug it off as the aging of the finish, but Fender uses a polyurethane finish now.

Yeah I don't know what you would do yourself to cause that, so looks like something wasn't done right at the factory.

BTW, looks like a 50's strat, not a 60's.

Apologies - it is a 50s !
The badge on the back of the neck says Fender 60 for their 60th anniversary
