Hello guys, i am on buying new guitar and i need a little of your help! I love the classic vintage look of the 70s strats but i can't afford to buy this one http://www.thomann.de/gr/fender_70_stratocaster_mn_ow.htm so i am looking for the mexican version of it http://www.thomann.de/gr/fender_70_classic_stratocaster_mn_olw.htm

The problem is that i don't know how good its building is (as it is MIM).Also i like the Highway One Strat's as they have a 70s look and they are MIA but i have read that Fender discontinued them :/

What are your thoughts for these guitars?

I have the MIM 70s Strat and the build quality is fantastic! Definitely on par with or better than a lot of MIA Fenders I've played.

You could go with the American Special and buy the black parts to match.

I'd like a white colour for my guitar :P Also it costs up to 200 euro more from 70s MIM

Sounds great! The pickups are pretty vintage-sounding (read - low-output), but they have a really nice sparkle, and the #2 and #4 positions on this guitar are to die for. Just a ton of "quack", perfect for playing really snappy funk stuff, think earlier Chili Peppers. In the 13 years I've owned the guitar the neck has acquired a beautiful reddish tint; still feels and plays just as comfortable as when I got it. Really easy guitar to set up. I put the black pickguard on to give it that mix-and-match1975 look when they were transitioning to the black plastic, and I think it really completes the vibe. It's just a really cool guitar IMO; I like this one so much I'm definitely planning on picking up either the '50s or '60s classic series.

Sounds Cool!!!I want to get clearly a 70s vintage sound but if i don't i can change the pickups that's not a problem. So do you recomend it for hmmmm Deep Purple tone for example? As i said if the sound is not so good i will change the pickups. The most i care is for it's built quality

I think you will definitely be happy with the build quality. I can get classic 70s rock tones, no problem, but I would probably get the rosewood fingerboard if overdriven riffing is what you're after. I like the maple board for cleaner 70s funk sounds. I've thought about replacing the pickups with some Custom Shop '69s, I've heard really great stuff about that set, but honestly I've been very happy with these. Like you said though, pickups aren't really a deal-breaker since it's so easy to change them.

They're built really nice and feel good to play. 2 things I noticed as far as authenticity, they're not as heavy than most 70s Strats and the tummy cut is not deep off-specs as it was back then.

I noticed that the most with late '70s Strats. I own one of those chunky basterds.

You won't be disappointed with the MIM 70s strat either in quality wise or sound. They ar really good instruments to play, a friend of mine is also looking at 70s MIM strat.

I have the '50s Classic Series. It's a terrific guitar. Sounds and plays great and has a real quality feel to it. Here's a snap taken right before I bought it.
