I don't want to start a flame but I have a big dilemma.

One thing is clear, it will be American Deluxe Strat :P

But I don't know which pickups configuration to choose.

SSS or HSS, that's the question.

Played on both, (SSS maple fretboard, HSS rosewood fretboard) the humbucker played louder and have more basses.

When I modify basses and trebles on amp both sounds relatively similar.

I'm playing mainly older music from Beatles, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Queen, Gary Moore, Ozzy.

Why did you choose your configuration and what do you recommend for me?

Thanks.

I have both. They both have their uses. I actually prefer the sound of a bucker at the bridge over a single coil for most purposes but most buckers are rather dark sounding and way too hot for a Strat. I like a vintage style bucker on a Strat. Lower output and more highs.

Although I have a stacked humbucker in one of my Strats, I prefer SSS. To me, it's a "Fender Heritage" thing. Les Pauls should only have humbuckers, and Strats should only have single-coils.

There seems to be a lott of SSSnobbery also, as, when people see my Strat with the Duncan JB Jr., they sort of turn their noses up at it.

I fully realize that's nuts, but that's the way I think.

It's like chicks with crew cuts,....it just seems wrong.

Do you think that HSS configuration is more versatile than SSS with three N3 pups?

It depends the music style you're playing.

For example if you play heavier kinds of music such as hard rock and metal a high-output humbucker can cover those styles to perfection.

Yes, the HSS config is more versatile than SSS, especially with a humbucker having coil tap/split abilities.

HSS Deluxe doesn't have coil tap/split abilities.

I'm playing mainly rock, blues rock, then harder rock.
Absolutely no metal.
Which suits me better?
What do you think?

It does.

Has the S1 switch which allows such operations.

As the newest member of the AD Strat club with a 2 tone sunburst v-neck, I'm wondering what your amp pairing is? I have a BJ NOS, a special ed HRDx, and a champ.

My main amp is a Rivera Fandango 112 combo with a colour matching 112 closed back ext cab. I have several other amps as well but in truth they don't get played much and any play they do get is usually out of my need to justify having them. I should just sell them.

Are the middle and neck N3 pickups on HSS and SSS exactly same?
Do they sound same?

I would like to fit a thicker 10's strings on my new American Deluxe.

Can I fit their on HSS with LSR or on SSS synthetic bone without any issues?

Thanks.

No.

The HSS version has its two N3s slightly overwound to compliment the DH-1. They sound a bit hotter.

Hotter means higher output with lots of mids.

Since the N3s are stacked humbuckers you'll get pretty (but not exactly) the same result you might expect from a regular HHH setup with three full-sized humbuckers.
