i always thought fenders were good until i actually bought one. My $2,000 deluxe dosent even hav an original or licensed Floyd Rose, the pick-ups are terrible, no fret locks(I do a simple bend and have to retune), 22 fret, and it's a bolt on. Why would anyone consider even buying a piece of junk fender. ESP or JACKSON is the way to go!

LOL!!!! :D You mean you joined the Fender Community and chose a rather dubious screen name so that you can post this?

If you're displeased with the new Deluxes, it's precisely because Fender discontinued the locking bridge option on that series in 2007. Not sure if your Deluxe is an HSS model.

In such case your axe does normally have the passing lane button and an LSR Roller Nut.

All US Deluxes came with locking tuners.

You can remove the stock pickups and S-1 switch and replace them with an EMG set if you're unhappy with. Some EMG sets had their own pickguard assemblies.

Since the mini-Floyd Rose bridge has been discontinued, you can "google" over the internet to find one in a mint condition. NOTE: You'll also need a matching backplate.

And if you really like having a Fender with neck-through construction and superstrat features such as an original Floyd Rose trem, 2-octave fingerboard with compound radius, radical body shapes and HSH pickups, order yourself a Showmaster from the Custom Shop. Jackson and Charvel are both owned by Fender.

Good luck!

nice Sunset Metallic finishes in those first 2 strats at the top of the thread. I have the same finish in SSS but with a rosewood fretboard.

I find the American Deluxe models to be the ULTIMATE strat... sure maybe the sound is not quite the same as the vintage style strats, but lets face it, they are not really intended for the traditionalist.

To the guy complaining about his strat and wishing he'd bought a Jackson or an ESP, go right ahead. If you buy Jackson, you've essentially bought a Fender instrument anyway. If you spent $2000 on a strat and had tuning stability issues, perhaps the guitar wasn't properly set up. I dive bomb on the trem on my 2011 Am Dlx and it stays in tune for weeks.

Think of a neck-thru model Jackson superstrat as being as far from traditional as you can get and the American Deluxe strat as being in the middle between traditional and modern. The Jackson is not better, it's just more suited to a certain style of playing and gets a different sound. Just like the American Deluxe is not better than an American Standard, it's simply adapted to a different type of player and has a sound that falls between the traditonal strat and the Jackson style superstrat.

I have to believe that Sunset Metallic will go down as one of the best Fender paint jobs ever. I got mine a year ago, wanted rosewood but was not in stock but now really have grown to like the maple fretboard. I took out the N3/S1 and put in Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot p'ups and also put in a Super-Vee Bladerunner vibrato bridge. Mine sounds like a late 50's Strat, stays in tune like a mo-fo and looks fantastic.

Welcome to the club!

Okay, it's a sunburst finish ... are you telling me, educating me? But thanks for the clarification ... it's hard to tell just looking at it that it is "sunburst" ... LOL

Here's mine before I yanked the p'ups and changed the vibrato system:

Super nice color. I never really like orangish colors on a Strat but man this combination is sweet. Also regarding the guy with the Srat rant.... I have a towel and a violin which I will play and let you cry all night. There IS some reason why some many famous performers use a Strat.
