I have a 72 stratocaster in which someone switched out the neck pickups a number of years back. I bought an original 70's stratocaster pickup that I want to install in it.
It has almost no lead wire left. I want to replace the black and white lead wires with wire which would be identical to the original. I have been searching and have a vary hard time finding some. Anyone know where we can purchase this ? It is a very small gauge, looks like perhaps 24 or 26 with 7 copper braids and a plastic sleeve. The plastic sleeves on the wire has no marking (AWG like we often see knowadays). All I found about the same dimension is lead wire from a stepper motor, but its not quite long enough and seems to have one twisted aluminum strand versus the 7 copper strands.

Can anyone offer help.

Thanks.

Hey buddy, dont You love it when it takes days for someone to respond to Your post, most of these people on here have there head up there asses but there are a few good ones.

Any way to answer Your question,if You have an elotronic supply store in Your area they have a 22-26 gauge wire there also if You get real desperate You can go to radio shack if You have on there and get 22 gauge speaker wire?

I am an alarm installer by trade and I had some 22 gauge wire but I am out right now

Thanks guys. I have some cloth wire, but it was neoprene insulated wire on the 1972 strats, so I am trying to restore it as close as possible to orginal. I have tried a few hardware stores and an electronics store, and there was nothing equivalent except a 22 gauge with AWG written on the wire sleve, and it seemed a bit bigger than the pickup wire.

I will try radio shack.

Thanks for your help.

Dan
