Finally, another choice for these -- the Products listings now includes black as a color choice for the CP 50's and Candy Apple Red for the CP 60's...

Not very nice. :?

Oldguy, interesting news. I have the CP 60s in 3 tone sunburst, and I love it. Now they're bringing it out in CAR - if they reverse-wound the middle pick up, it would be pretty much by my dream stratocaster. Makes me wonder what other color variations Fender will unleash this year.

I have a shoreline gold cp50s and I have been hoping they would offer the cp60s in CAR. I really like the classic player guitars. Excellent quality and features...

Didn't mean to offend, sorry. Just that it's hard to find a used Fender that isn't black or candy apple red.

Hey Chromeface, can you show the first Strat photo (the black one) a little larger? I couldn't quite see it on my 21" monitor.

Why does Fender use the modern 2-pivot bridge instead of 6 if these are supposed tp be 50s and 60s guitars? That would stop me from buying one even though I deck my trem with 5 springs screwed fully tight and don't use it.

Because the 2-point pivot with the vintage style bent-steel saddles was unique for the Classic Player series.

Still seems odd.

Isnt this a classic series 50 and not a CP 50?

The Classic Player series was not intended to be faithful representation of 50's and 60's Strats. Rather, they are a hybrid of old-school Strat vibe (Classic) with modern, player-centric features. So while they have the overall look of vintage Strats, they depart from tradition with flatter fingerboard radius's, bigger frets, and the 2-point vibrato.

During their first years of production, the Classic Player Strats were made at the CS. These guitars featured select alder or ash bodies, C or V-shaped necks with abalone-dot inlaid rosewood or maple fingerboard, 22 medium-jumbo frets and Sperzel Trimlock staggered tuners. They also sported three Vintage Noiseless pickups with a dual-coil Ceramic pickup in the bridge position and an 8-hole gold anodized aluminum pickguard.
