Hey folks ....
In searching for a new guitar, I played an American Special yesterday. Very nice. The neck seemed to be a little wider than the American Standard neck.
Anyone have an American Special? I'm going to try it again tomorrow before I make a decision. What are your opinions of this guitar?

I have an American Special and I love it!. Really nice quality at a descent price. I particularly like the the vintage trem bridge, I never liked the 2 point modern bridges. Also the frets are jumbo which makes it a pleasure for bends. The pickups are Texas Specials and sound really sweet as well as being very versatile. Good luck!!

I have an HSS American Special and I love it! If you've got the cash and it feels good to you, then buy it!

I think the American Special offers big bang for the buck! But if your willing to drop a few more dollars, the new American Standards compounded radius neck feels and plays so much better!

American Standards have the 9.5 rad necks.......American Deluxe have the Compounded Rad.

I have two specials, one with the rosewood fingerboard and the other a maple. I do prefer the Rosewood myself but again it's all about what feels best to you. Both guitars are great and well worth the money. You honestly can't go wrong with them. Be sure to pick up a hardshell case for it and that will round it off nicely. Good luck.
