Couldn't resist posting a link to an ad on Ebay for this G&L. Check out the job the guy did stringing it.

 maybe he's not allowed to have wire snips or pliers , i also liked his novel idea with the string tree  he's probably selling it due to tuning stability issues

I'll give him some credit. About 1 in 3 guitars I buy (I buy a good number) have the strings on the wrong side of the posts on maybe half the strings. I have had the g string under the tree and the b string just bypassing it completely on a recent guitar.

I'm not only amazed at the job of stringing it, but the size of the strings. They appear to be flatwounds and a gauge similar to the cable the tow truck guy down the street uses to pull cars out of the ditch. :(

Yeah, I feel really sorry for that guitar. The bridge looks like its going to snap off!!! Someone needs to give it a good home, but from the bidding it doesn't look like it.

Not withstanding the fact that those guitars are the progeny of George and Leo, I've never developed an affection for them. I don't like the bridge design and the necks don't suit me. That '57 Fullerton Strat that the Custom Shop did a couple of years ago was the 'best in the west' IMHO. The Fullerton prototype they're offering this year is also a nice piece but that 10/56 neck is a bit much for my hand.

Just my tuppence, nada mas.

I don't get it, what's wrong with it?

Seriously, that winding job looks pretty much like the way most guitars I saw were (non-pro) rewound during the '60s. YMMV.

......and before   There was some kind of 'folkie' esthetic about not clipping the strings and having them wound in a circle around or flying off the posts in all directions. Of course, that was back in that day when playing a guitar which didn't look like it had been dragged along '40 miles of bad road' was in fashion. Any of you understand the tongue in cheek in quotes are certainly old enough to remember.
